On September 24th, NorthEast MultiSport competed in the New Hampshire Clubs Championship. The race was the Pitch Pine Tri in Ossipee, NH, which consisted of a 1/3 mile swim, 13.7 mile bike, and 5K run. Despite a lot of rain the day before and the morning of the race, the weather cleared up for the race and it ended up being a beautiful day.
NEMS had 8 competitors enter the race. Colin Cook ended up winning the race and getting his first overall win with a solid swim and the fastest run split of the day. Not far behind Colin was Nate Thomas who finished 2nd overall recording the fastest bike split as usual. NEMS newcomers Jim Petersen and Richard Hostler also had excellent races and finished in 6th and 7th overall while both winning their age groups. Chad Quinlan battled hard to finish 3rd in his very competitive age group. Nancy Epstein also had a terrific race and was the 6th overall female while winning her age group. Jan Andersson helped out the club with a solid effort despite injuring his foot. Eddie McCormack had very respectable splits all around and finished 7th in a stacked 50-54 age group.
Despite only having 8 members competing, NEMS took 3rd in the club standings for New Hampshire! Considering how many competitors a lot of the other clubs had, this was a tremendous showing. Hopefully the club will have more members compete in the race next year, but everyone from the club should be very proud! Here is some video from the race and the awards ceremony after:
