On the weekend of July 8th 12 NEMS members took on the Lord of the Flies weekend of racing at Waterville Valley. The weekend consists of a bike Time Trial on Friday night, an International distance Tri on Saturday, and a Sprint Tri Sunday. It’s a great weekend of races and NEMS had some incredible results with several members reaching the podium.
NEMS President Colin Cook did a great job of representing the team as usual, coming in 2nd in his AG and 8th overall with a total time of 2:56 for the combined weekend of races. NEMS Vice President Jay Francis had a tremendous weekend also, coming in 2nd in his AG as well as 5th overall in the bike TT. On the strength of some amazing bike times Chris Poulos dominated the Men 35-39 AG coming in 1st for the weekend (10th overall) for the Lord of the Flies competition. Debra Stallato also won the Female 50-54 age group in the LOF due her consistent in a total time of 3:58:43. New member Richard Hostler also made his way to the podium with a total time of 3:05, finishing 3rd in the 35-39 AG. Awesome work guys!
NEMS would also like to recognize Jan Andersson for competing in his first ever triathlons during the weekend and for conquering his fear of the swim. Amazing job Jan!
Other members competing in the full weekend of races include Adam Crowley, Chad Quinlan, Frank Mulcahy, John Jenkins, Nancy Epstein, and Ross Moir.
The club also had several team members compete in individual races during the weekend. Competitors in Saturday’s International Distance included: Jim Peterson, who got 3rd in the Mens 20-24 age group, Kara Andersson, Karin Chen, John King, and Bryan Lemire.
Michelle Poublon, who got 2nd in Woman’s 40-44 AG, Dan Dugan, and Melody Miller.
This very eventful weekend also included the Little Bugger kids triathlon, which included children from the Epstein and Jenkin’s families. This event was a blast to watch and the future NEMSers did awesome!
A special thank you goes out to Frank Mulcahy and his family for hosting a team dinner/get together at his house in Waterville. The food and company were fantastic so thanks to everyone that came.
Here are videos from the event. There are also some photos on the NEMS Flickr page. Great job everyone!
