Taking to heart the “discretion is the greater part of valor” idiom, NEMS members Jim Piper and Frank Mulcahy decided to forgo the Mother’s Day scheduled NE Season Opener and instead opened the season at the FAST Sudbury Sprint Triathlon. Yes, Sudbury attracts a lot of newbies, a slew of beach cruisers and mountain bikes but Frank and Jim came, and conquered. In a field of over 400 competitors on a chilly Sunday, Frank came thru with his fastest bike and run pace ever to earn his first AG podium placing third in the M35-39. Jim (competing at Sudbury for the 5th time) had his fastest Swim and Run splits ever to take 2nd in M50-54.
